Siam Thai Cuisine - Otto: Reviews & Ratings

I have to confess, I have been traveling past this place for years on US 441 just a few miles into North Carolina and didn't even know this place was here. There is another Thai restaurant just a couple of miles to the north, an absolute rarity in the rural Blue Ridge mountains of Appalachia. One of the marketing weaknesses of this location is the lack of attention grabbing signage. The owners went with a very weak wooden sign attached to the building that is incredibly easy to miss. For reference, it is directly next to the Otto North Carolina post office. The two edifices making up the entirety of downtown Otto these days. On the other hand, given the age of the building, the location is surprisingly very handicapped accessible inside. I found the menu prices to be slightly lower than what I expected with a simple menu that does not overwhelm but found their selections to be bland and I think that comes from they're not adding (or proactively offering) any of the traditional accompaniments like teriyaki or soy sauce. I did ask for yum yum sauce with my fried rice and they conjured up one small container explaining to me that I got the very last of it for that day as they were now out. The blend of fried rice together with shrimp, chicken and steak as well as assorted vegetables was very well blended and a nice hearty meal. I also got a side of pork dumplings at 6 for $6.99 but thought they were needlessly overcooked and crunchy. There were some surprisingly interesting desserts including one type of tea that they concocted into a sort of ice cream float for $4. They're only open for dinner with doors unlocking at 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday that I visited but the service was excellent with two waitresses on duty, allowing for very short wait times. I still prefer the Thai Paradise up the road and Franklin North Carolina's Asian King buffet more than this place but I'm not closing the door on visiting here again.

Some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten! I had the wings and the red curry, both were amazing!! I usually do not eat eggplant BUT TRUST ME leave the eggplant in the curry! The flavor of the curry compliments the eggplant so well! This is also the first place where I liked Thai tea! Overall great place!

Honestly, probably would have driven by this and never seen it if it had not been for the Billboard. Service was phenomenal. Our waitress was lovely and such a sweetheart. Gave us excellent service, and the food was excellent as well.

The owners are so nice and welcoming, the only place to get boba in Franklin and it's so good! Lots of different flavors and they have great specials, stop by you won't regret it.

We love dining here ! Nan’s food is always delicious! I always love to order the drunken noodle and the Pad Thai . The drunken noodle has a delicious basil sauce. It comes with chicken ,( peppers , green beans )and the sauce is perfectly balanced with Thai basil. I pair this with a Boba milk tea . Coconut and Taro milk teas are also . Don’t forget to add in the jellies or boba !! My husband loves the pad Thai with the tamarind sauce. If you like peanuts and a vibrant sauce .. this is it ! Happy 2 years ! Stay forever

Quaint little spot with excellent food! Massaman curry was possibly the best we’ve had, spice level 2 was enough to keep us from scarfing it down. Spring rolls were good and drunken noodles (first time having this dish) was yummy as well. I’d definitely check it out if you’re in the area! Great addition!!

Great little restaurant. People here very friendly and courteous. The best part of their menu was the Thai Donuts. Delicious!! Curry was watery compared to other Thai restaurants we have been to. But still good. We were little surprised that even vegetarian food we ordered had egg. So please be aware of that fact. If you don't eat egg, you might want to explicitly say that. And bring in cash as they charge exorbitant 4% fee for credit card, n not the usual 2.75% like most others.

Welcome to **Siam Thai Cuisine - Otto**, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains at 8507 Georgia Rd, Otto, NC. Though this delightful eatery may be easy to overlook—located next to the Otto post office with understated signage—it promises an authentic Thai culinary experience worth seeking out. The charming ambiance paired with friendly service creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression.

As I entered, I felt the palpable excitement of the kitchen's energy, especially as the clock ticked towards opening at 4:30 p.m. One customer's praise echoes my own sentiments: the service here is exceptional, often highlighted by the attentiveness of the staff. It’s clear that they pride themselves on creating a welcoming environment for diners.

The menu showcases a concise selection of Thai classics that won't overwhelm. My taste buds were tantalized by standout dishes like the wings and red curry. A fellow diner raved about the curry's delightful flavor, especially with the inclusion of eggplant, which typically doesn't sit well with them, yet here, it shone brightly. It’s moments like these that make exploring local cuisine so rewarding—finding a new favorite where you least expect it.

While some dishes, like the fried rice and pork dumplings, may have left room for improvement, the overall experience was enjoyable. It’s evident that there’s an earnest approach to each dish, and while the flavor profiles can skew towards the mild side, there lies potential for customization with available sauces. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a unique dessert offering—a tea concoction presented as an ice cream float, bringing a refreshing end to my meal.

Though **Siam Thai Cuisine - Otto** competes with other Thai establishments nearby, its blend of stellar service and comforting dishes makes it a noteworthy contender. Whether you're a local or merely passing through the serene Appalachian landscape, taking the time to visit this quaint restaurant might just lead you to find your new favorite Thai dish. So don’t let the modest exterior deter you; step inside and indulge in the flavorful realm of Thai cuisine. You won't regret it!
